Welles focuses her practice primarily on tax planning, estate planning and administration, and business planning. She represents both individuals and businesses in tax controversy matters involving the Internal Revenue Service. She also advises existing and emerging businesses and nonprofit organizations on formation, contract and compliance issues. Additionally, Welles works with real estate developers and investors to evaluate and structure energy and community development projects to effectively utilize state and federal tax credits.
Prior to joining Rogers Lewis, Welles worked at Moore and Van Allen PLLC. Welles received a Juris Doctorate from American University, Washington College of Law. While in law school, she served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Robert H. Hodges, Jr. at the United States Court of Federal Claims. She earned a Master of Laws in Taxation from the New York University School of Law.
Welles is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, Probate, Estate Planning and Trust Section. She is also a volunteer for the South Carolina Bar’s Habitat for Humanity Wills Project and Special Olympics SC. Welles was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina.
